ECA Companies Unite And Form ECA Consortium To Comply With EU Biocidal Regulation

17 March 2014

ECA Consortium

In a bid to secure EU Biocidal certification under the impending EU regulation cut-off date of 2015, 10 ECA companies from around Europe, Ireland, Russia and South Africa, met in Denmark for open discussions toward the formation of a consortium.

The general consensus is to proceed. As the filing date draws closer, those who do not comply with the act, stand to be regulated and prohibited from supplying in the EU.

The European Biocidal Product Regulation E 528/2012 purpose is defined as, “The purpose of this Regulation is to improve the free movement of Biocidal Products within the Union while ensuring a high level of protection of both human and animal health and the environment”

Among those present in Horsholm, Denmark, headquarters for DHI were:

·         Anolytech AB

·         Envirolye Industries International Ltd

·         Innowatch GmbH

·         PGF Industry Solutions A/S

·         EcaSafe A/S

·         Danish Clean Water A/S

·         Radical Waters (Pty) Ltd

·         ProMinentDosiertechnik GmbH

·         Trustwater

·         NPP Izumrud

The outcome of the discussion saw a board formation consisting of four companies: Innowatech, Anolytech, Radical Waters and Danish Clean Water.

Spokesperson for the board’s consortium Peter Madsen of Danish Clean Water says, “At this stage, we are collecting information from the members about liquid specifications and product classes we shall apply for. DHI will collect this information and work out the application documents for the EU commission.  We are open to assessing new members who want to join the consortium”
